Lot's of fun on a busy autovía one evening when a young man in his early 30s is found driving the wrong way along it.
This started on the A-92G and then continued onto the A-92, both within the municipality of Santa Fe for a distance of eleven kilometres. It goes without saying that he was driving under the influence of alcohol.
It was 22.00h on the 20th of April when the 33-year-old man drove onto the A-92G at kilometre-point five heading west towards Sevilla on the eastbound lanes.
When he reached the A-92 junction at kilometre-point 231, he entered that autovia, again, on the wrong lanes. The emergency call centre received several alerts from drivers that had crossed with him
He was intercepted by a Guardia Civil patrol car and escorted off the autovia at kilometre point 237 at the Atarfe exit junction. However, once off the motorway he twice tried to run over an officer.
They finally got him out of the car – he had no passengers onboard – and identified him. They also immediately breathalysed him as he was showing signs of being drunk. The results showed that he was three times over the limit.
Consequently, he will be charged with drink driving and dangerous driving, as well as assaulting an officer.
