After meeting with the judge, both parties in the labour dispute in Motril (the Town Hall & unions) have agreed to postpone the strike until after Semana Santa.
As reported in a previous article, the judge in the municipal law courts stopped the strike from going ahead as scheduled for last night and instead set up a meeting between the two parties for yesterday morning at 11.00h.
The Town Hall, for its part, has promised to meet with worker representatives after Semana Santa, whilst after a meeting of the strike committee, the postponement was approved.
A total of 700 refuse-collection workers were ready to go on strike and will no doubt do so, if an agreement is not reached with the Mayor to cancel the looming strike.
