The Junta de Andalucía says that it is willing to revise the restriction of filling swimming pool depending on rainfall and the summer heat.
In other words the Junta will not “absolutely ban” pool filling, as is the case in Cataluña, declared the Spokesman for the Regional Government, Ramón Fernández-Pacheco.
He had been cornered by the press as he left a board of ministers meeting and asked if restriction measure can be modified.
He answered, “Of course,” adding that it is the responsibility of individual municipalities to control water consumption and provide supplies, whereas the position of the Junta has always been to keep in touch with them over this.
He said that there are several factors to be taken into consideration such as summer temperatures, whether it rains again and whether the Central Government finishes work on water-distribution projects (Rules, for example).
Finally, he said that the Junta would convoke the Drought Committee after Semana Santa to evaluate the water situation.
