Residents on Calle La Música in Vélez Málaga were constantly complaining about a hearse left parked on the street.
A neighbour had obtained the hearse, second hand, complete with an empty coffin inside – she had thought it would come in handy and parked it below her window.
After receiving these complaints, the Policía Local went around to inspect it a couple of times. On their first visit they saw that it had no valid ITV, but its new owner sorted that out, so as she wasn’t breaking the law, they couldn’t do anything about it.
The residents complain that it’s spooky and they feel uneasy with the damned thing parked there. The owner can’t see what all the fuss is about, she claims. When asked about the coffin inside, behind the curtains, she points out that it is obviously empty.
“I’m an audio-visual, performance artist and my boyfriend gave it to me as a present on San Valentine’s so that I could use it as a prop in short films.” However, that doesn’t mean that she can’t nip down to the shops in it, she pointed out.
