There was a small fire in Hotel Costa Andaluza in Motril this morning. However, everybody was evacuated to be on the safe side, whilst the fire service dealt with it.
The emergency call centre 112 received the first of many calls around 08.35h, followed by calls from both residents in nearby blocks and guests staying at the hotel.
The Motril fire service, Policía Nacional, Policía Local and the Protección Civil were despatched to the scene of the fire, which had broken out in one of the rooms, according to the Policía Nacional. Fortunately, nobody was hurt.
The said hotel, on Calle Islas Bahamas de Motril, is situated right next to Hospital Santa Ana.
Editorial comment: this hotel, owing to being mere metres from the hospital, is used by family and relatives of patients at the hotel, if they live some distance from Motril.
