Waves Sweep Away More Beach.

Motril Policía Local cordoned off parts of Playa Granada for safety reasons following the arrival of the winter gale (Karlotta), which swept away even more sand.

MOT Playa Granada Hit Again by GalesThe step or shelf in the sand is almost two metres in height and waves have been beating against the hotel perimeter there. Beach equipment (wooden walk ways) have been swept away.

The beach path was affected so the fire service and the Policía roped it off so that people wouldn’t hurt themselves.

The previous winter gale occurred on the 21st of January and created a step in the beach but Karlotta made it more pronounced.

The need for a breakwater, and the indignation concerning the absence of one, grows with the arrival of each gale and consequent deterioration of the beach.

The Central Government has promised to put the work out to tender “soon” but not many hold out much  hope for that as pledges have been made and broken before.
