The Mayor of Motril, Luisa García Chamorro, wants the Central Government to finish the job on the new roundabout access from the West and install lighting.
She expressed her concern over the lack of lighting on this important junction and the road into town.
“We totally understand that Motrileños and all those that use this western access are annoyed over the lack of lighting and therefore urgently ask the Ministerio de Transportes to have the roundabout working in optimum condition as soon as possible,” she said.
When they finished the roundabout, the workers placed hazard beacons so that drivers, unaccustomed to the presence of the new roundabout, would approach with caution. However and apparently, these have since ceased to function.
Councillor José Balderas said that work on the roundabout had finished months ago, adding, “safety is really important for us and at the moment we don’t think that it is guaranteed.”
