Widening work has commenced on the Motril port road, starting at the Alsina maintenance sheds near the roundabout beneath the N-340.
There will be a new roundabout giving access to the Zona de Actividades Logísticas from N-323 (port road) with a budget of some 400,000 euros and which will give an alternative access to the autovía via the GR-16.
The funds are part of the Motril Port budget, which this year is around nine million euros.
Another project that the port has is a new building for the Guardia Civil in the port area, the enlargement of the Puesto de Control Fronterizo (Customs Area), etc.
As for private investment in the ZAL (logistics area in the port), Grupo Erik and HUB Place will install themselves there.
There’s also the Green Deal Motril, which is a project to produce electricity for the use of docked ships from renewable-energy sources within the port, namely, solar panels. This way ships will not have to run their diesel generators to provide electricity onboard.
To this end and with a budget of eight-million euros, there will be around 40,000 sq/m of solar panels installed.
