Salobreña Ghostly Fire

Just after midnight on 1st, the witching hour of Halloween, an emblematic house above the N-340 just outside Salobreña went up in flames.

SAL Peñon Zorrera House FireWe’re talking about the house on the Peñón Zorreros, originally built by a French man nearly 50 years ago, looking like a compressed Alhambra.

Well, the police and fire service believe that it was a gamberada (teenage vandalism) that got out of hand.

After all, it looks like a cross between Dracular’s castle and Norman Bates house from Pyscho, so what better place to hold a satanic prank on Halloweens?

Anyway, the Motril fire service, Guardia Civil and Policía Local were called out and as soon as the fire was out, began investigating who was behind it.

Councillor for Citizen Safety, Antonio Rodríguez Molina, pointed out that luckily nobody was hurt, although we might add that the building appears gutted, so the owner might feel a tad ‘hurt’ about it. We believe that the present owner is a Spanish family from somewhere inland.
