The Civil Guard nabbed three anglers who were poaching on the Laguna de Padul; i.e., the wetland area.

The three individuals, aged between 45 and 47, will be charged for transgressing the environmental protection laws concerning flora and fauna.

A local, out for a walk, spotted the three suspects with rods and alerted the Guardia Civil, who immediately despatched a Seprona (Nature Protection Service) patrol to investigate.

They found the anglers and asked them for their IDs and informed them that were angling in an area where fishing is expressly forbidden, as it belongs to the Sierra Nevada Natural Park.

The fish that they had already caught were returned to the water and after informing them that they will have to appear before a magistrate, they were sent on their way.
