Work will affect traffic on the A-7 going through the Capistrano and Torrox tunnels starting today.
The relevant ministry that anounced this (The Mitma) said this work on the two tunnels should be concluded by early Friday morning.
To be more precise, work began last night at 22.00h and will conclude at 06.00h, Friday morning.
Lanes will be closed down alternatively each day, depending on how the working with the tunnels progresses.
The closures will be between kilometre points, 929.6 & 931.4 (Capistrano) and between kilometre points 935.3 & 937.4 (Torrox).
This means, if you’re heading for the airport (as I will be by the time you read this) leave with time to spare just to be on the safe side because two lanes of traffic will be funnelled down to one until you are through the tunnels.
Editorial comment: the last time we passed on this information from the Ministry of Public Works, there was no sign of the roadworks… This could be because the work is being carried out only at night in order to cause the least disruptions: i.e.,between 22.00h and 06.00h the next morning.
