A Guardia Civil traffic patrol was on duty on the N-340 where it passes through Torrenueva Costa when they were approached by a frantic man.
He had pulled up next to them and run over with a baby in his arms and desperately asked them for their help as the baby was choking. This occurred around 20.30h on the 4th of September.
The police grabbed the child and parents, piled into the patrol car, put the siren and lights on full blare and raced to Motril’s Hospital Santa Ana.
Along the way one of the officers contacted the hospital to let them know what the problem was and that they were on their way, so that the medical staff would be prepared for their imminent arrival.
The doctor and nurses were at the entrance to A&E take charge of the baby. Shortly afterwards, the hospital informed the police and parents that the child was breathing and out of danger.
