The Grupo de Localización de Fugitivos have arrested a man on the run in Mijas, wanted for having allegedly abused his 3-year-old daughter in his home country.
For over three weeks the police had had to stake out the chalet where the fugitive was living with a new partner and her kids because he never left the building; that was until he made the mistake of taking out the rubbish, which was when the police pounced.
The 49-year-old fugitive, who is from Argentina, had been on the run for several years. In fact, the sexual abuse of his own daughter began in 2007 when she was three and lasted until she was eight.
The child’s mother reported what was happening to the police, which was when he fled the country before he could be tried. He faces a prison sentence of over 20 years.
It was last month that the Argentinian judicial system issued an international arrest warrant, as they had information that led them to believe that he was in Spain. It was long before this specialised police unit belonging to the Policía Nacional tracked him down to the Costa del Sol. In fact, the stake out began on the 7th of August.
It was just after midday on the 29th of August when he showed his face outside the house that the police came emerged from their unmarked police car to meet him. He first thought that they had come about a burglary that his present partner had reported, but he soon found out that it wasn’t.
