Somebody left behind their baby for approximately an hour in one of Salobreña's supermarkets before remembering that it wasn't with them.
The parents are foreigners here on holiday, according to the Guardia Civil, who are looking into the incident. According to the supermarket’s CCTV, the parents never left the establishment during that hour.
Of course, what the police are investigating is whether it was a deliberate attempt to abandon the child but it soon became apparently under questioning that this was not the case, so parents and reunited baby were allowed to go on their way.
The incident took place last Sunday around midday. The baby, which was only 5-months old, began to wail in its pram. A shopper saw the child and seeing that there was nobody attending to it, phoned the Policía Local.
Apparently, the parents were at the check out when the baby began to cry and people started commenting on it when they realised that they had left the pram behind. The parents were exhausted after a long trip, which probably explains why they weren’t on the ball, so to speak.
