Well, we've had our cooler days but it's back to scorchio thanks to hot air coming up from Africa... with love.
Thursday and Friday will be the hottest days all over Andalucía, which could be the hottest days since 1981; in other words, worse that what we experienced mid July.
Down on the Costa Granada, the temperatures probably won’t reach 40ºC but they will make a damned good impression of them. Inland Andalucía could reach 45ºC. And along the Guadalquivir Valley (Sevilla) it could reach 46ºC or 47ºC.
Now some (those who deny Climate Change… or at least Man’s part in it) think this sort of information is scare mongering; i.e. part of a global conspiracy. Sure, we’ve had pretty hot summers before. I particularly remembering on one occasion a box of matches left on an exposed, bar-terrace, metallic-topped, table bursting into flames and making everybody sitting around it jump.
So, it was hot then and it’s hot now but the difference is that the heat we sometimes experienced wasn’t as prolonged as it is now, nor did it occurred outside July & August, as it does now.
Anyway, by the weekend the temperatures will ease off to somewhere between the heat of this Thursday and Friday and the cooler weather of last week. The bad news is that the African winds could bring Sahara dust; i.e., calima.
So, here’s the high & lows along the coast and comarca capitals:
Coast:
La Herradura: Thursday 30°/26° & Friday 26°/24°
Almuñécar: Thursday 28º/25º & Friday 29º/25º
Salobreña: Thursday 30º/24º & Friday 32º/25º
Motril: Thursday 32º/25º & Friday 34º/25º

Inland:

Órgiva: Thursday 41º/31º & Friday 40º/29º
Alhama: Thursday 40º/28º & Friday 40º/28º
Loja: Thursday 42º/26º & Friday 41º/26º
