Lifeguards in Calahonda rescued a mother and her children who were adrift off the beach in front of the boat-launching area.
The incident occurred around 19.00h after the currents had swept the mother and two girls out to sea and away from the beach, making it impossible to return.
The family was brought to the beach, no worse for wear.
Editorial comment: what was the mother doing, three-up on a surfboard with here two kids with her?
The sea might look inviting but it is still a dangerous playground and should be respected, surely?
