Butane Bottles Go Down

It's always good news when the prices of essential commodities and services go down, which is the case of una bombona or domestic, butane bottle.

SPN Butano 400x250The price dropped by 4.89% yesterday making the price for a bombona only 15.18 euros, which is its lowest price in at least 12 months.

The price of butane is regulated by the Central Government which revises it every two months, increasing or decreasing the price always by a small margin and publishing it in the Boletín Oficial del Estado (BOE) or in other words, the Official State Gazette, which is not half as amusing as the Seaside Gazette, some would have it.

This is always announced on the third Tuesday on the second month.

This latest reduction is the result of both a drop in price of the prime material (-25%) and to a lesser degree a better exchange rate between the Euro and the USD (+0.2%)

Freight transport, also referred to as freight forwarding, which reflected an increase (16.6%) was also taken into account but the end result was that you can purchase the good-ol’ bombona for less that 16 euros.

Beware, however, because the snazzy gas bottles (aluminium or grey with a red, plastic top) are more expensive, so don’t be fooled.
