Costa Tropical Burglars Caught

Three men and a woman were arrested in connection with a series of burglaries on the Costa Tropical.

SPN Policia Nacional GenericThe suspects, netted by police operations Dodge and Magnolias, aged between 21 and 41, all have criminal records and are believed to be behind at least 16 break-ins between June 2020 and May 2023.

Investigators from both the Policía Nacional and the Guardia Civil discovered that there was a common link between these incidents spaced out over two years.

The gang would peruse possible target homes a few days before during week days, noting the inhabitants movements. They would go round the area, knocking on doors asking for somebody called Samuel and this way find out if the house was occupied or not.

Once it was decided which homes to hit, one of the gang remained in the car, keeping a look out, whilst two others climbed up onto a balcony window or over garden walls, in order to force an entrance. They were mainly after jewellery and cash but sometimes, took laptop computers and video-game consoles.

After each robbery they would return to Roquetas del Mar where they lived until the heat died off, which made police investigation all the more difficult.

The Motril-based, Guardia Civil and Policía Nacional worked together over the last two years to bring about the arrests after they realised that cases in Calahonda and Carchuna shared similarities with those further along the Costa Tropical.

Fortunately, the victims of a burglary carried out on the 19th of May were able to identify the culprits who had visited with questions about “Samuel,” which lead to the thieves’ arrests.
