La Guardia Civil stopped a bus on an established bus route doing 100 kph in an area where the speed limit was 60 kph.
This took place within the municipality of Ventas de Huelma on the A-338, which connects Armilla with Alhama de Granada. In places it has long straight sections, like at the far end of the Carretera de La Cabra.
The reason that it has a speed limit of 60 in places is because there is no hard shoulder and travelling at 100 kph with a bus full of passengers is asking for trouble, not least a fine. In fact, where the driver was stopped was just before a junction on a road frequented by cyclists.
The driver could lose between two and six points off his licence and the fine can be between 100 and 600 euros. He also stands a chance of losing his job.
