The Mayor of Motril, Luisa Garcia Chamorro, has pledged to turn more land over to irrigation, in preparation for when the Rules water arrives.
Accompanied by the First Councillor for Carchuna/Calahonda (municipal dependencies) Concepción Abarca, she said that it was important to not only sort out the greenhouses with new local bylaws but also speed up the administrative work needed to favour the agricultural sector, as well as the fishing sector.
Editorial comment: this is where you realise that electoral pledges are purely and solely made to obtain votes and are completely divorced from common sense. Water in the dam is a finite and diminishing resource. What it is not, is an endless supply of water to be exploited.
