If you missed the Fiesta del Naranjo in Melegís, you're still in time for the XXVI Feria de Turismo, Artesanía y Gastronomía 'Hecho en la Alpujarra.
This Alpujarra event, which will take place between the 6th and 9th of this month in Órgiva, is the 26th one, explained the Mayor of Órgiva, Raúl Orellana. It is expected to attract around 30,000 visitors, beating last year’s figure, he said.
The idea behind the fair, which will be housed within marquees, erected on the municipal parking area, is to promote local businesses, local culture and increase tourism in the comarca.
Just some of the goodies that you will find at the fair are: jamón serrano, cheese, sweet meats, cured meats, chocolate, olive oil and honey.
There will be handicraft objects made from clay, esparto grass, metal, leather and wood, as well.
Other activities are free, guided tours around cultural monuments and along established walks (Órgiva-Bayacas-Órgiva), on Friday the 7th. Then on Saturday, there will be sampling of typical, Alpujarra salchicón, Alpujarreño jamón Serrano and chocolate!
So, there’s plenty to do and see in Órgiva, from Thursday to Sunday! It’s also a good opportunity to take a break from the crowded coast this Easter.
