A young father from Iznate committed suicide as a result of the loss of his baby son.

The 33-year-old man was unable to cope when his 40-day-old baby, who had been admitted to the Materno Infantil de Málaga, died after four days there, despite there being all indications that the baby was recovering. In the early hours of the fourth day he passed away in the ICU.

The Town Hall of Iznate, a small village in the Axarquía with barely 900 inhabitans, declared three days of official mourning; i.e., until 23.59h on the 29th of March.

The child was a twin, whose autopsy report has yet to be made known. The mother also has a 3-year-old son.
