A young woman in his 20s died yesterday as a result of being run over by a lorry whilst riding an electric scooter.

The 25-year-old had been riding through a tunnel in Marbella when she was hit by the lorry. Around 18.30h the emergency, call centre, 112, received the first of many calls to report the accident.

The tunnel in question gives access to La Cañada shopping centre, running beneath the autovía. National and Local police and an ambulance were rapidly despatched but the paramedics could do nothing for the victim.

Editorial comment: riding through a tunnel, probably with no lights, was inviting disaster.
