We recently ran an article on the presence of Guardia Civil officers stopping drivers in the parking area of the Nevada Shopping Centre.

Their presence might have seemed a little over the top but recently a van was stolen from the underground parking area.

The Policía Local from Ogíjares and La Zubia were able to track down this stolen vehicle several days after its theft in the shopping-centre parking. The suspect driving it didn’t even have a valid driving licence.

As the driver was approaching a police check point on the border between the two municipalities, he pulled to a halt just meters before the officers, jumped out and ran off leaving the vehicle in the middle of the road with the engine running.

Whilst one officer got into the van to get it off the road where it was blocking the traffic, his companions chased after the suspect, finally catching up with him on Calle Río Guadalfeo

He was arrested and taken into police custody.
