Today will see the start of roadworks in Almuñécar in the Plaza Madrid and work will recommence on the Paseo San Cristóbal.
Obviously this will mean traffic diversions for a month in one case and until December in another.
Plaza Madrid and Calle Alcalde Julio Fajardo
The Town hall is going to renew that road surface at the bottom end of the Avenida de Andalucía and Calle Alcalde Julio Fajardo. This work will commence at 08.00h today and will last approximately four weeks; longer if it rains.
Traffic diversions will entail the Avenida de Andalucía being closed to traffic from Calle Granada. You can’t reach Plaza de Madrid from Calle Hurtado de Mendoza either. The accompanying photo shows where the Avenida de Andalucía will be closed from.
Traffic will be rerouted via Calle Cariñena. To reach the Paseo del Altillo you will have to go down the Avenida Juan Carlos I as far as the beach and turn right. Traffic flow along Calle Helga Shönel will be reversed so that you can continue up to the paseo road and westwards.
Paseo San Cristóbal
The traffic diversion around the Plaza de Abderreman II continues so that you cannot continue along the Paseo de Las Flores (eastern end of the Paseo de San Cristóbal) but will have to follow the road around to the right, past Calle Bikini until you reach Calle Guadix.
This diversion will remain in place from 08.00h today until the end of the year – longer if it rains or if somebody sits on their arse all day again.
