The renovation work on Plaza Abderramán in Almuñécar has dragged on so long, into summer, that people are up in arms about it.
The latest twist is that the opposition party IU-Podemos has made an official complaint about the delays in these works, which are denying the town parking spaces, as well as a popular square.
The fact is that work began back in April and during these intervening months only two or three workmen can be seen sauntering around on many days of the week.
The task is hardly complicated, either, so in the opinion of IU-Podemos, this appears to be a case of the construction company falling down on the job; i.e., breaking the contract terms.
As things stand, their completion date must have come and gone, so why, asks this opposition party, has the Town Hall not stepped in?
Quite apart from what the IU-Podemos claims, nearby businesses have been grumbling for a while that work on the square is desultory and lacking in any urgency to complete the task.
