Mayor Trinidad Herrera will resign tomorrow in an Extraordinary Plenary Meeting of the Almuñécar Town Council because she has been elevated to a ministerial post.
She ran during the Regional Elections last Sunday as an MP for her party and because the PP won a landslide victory, she has secured a place for herself in the new Junta-de-Andalucía administration under PM Juan Manuel Moreno.
The Plenary Meeting will be held at 08.30h which was convoked expressly for this reason. From tomorrow until the next Mayor of Almuñécar is sworn in, her place will be occupied by a care-taker appointment, Councillor Beatriz González.
Councillor Juan José Ruiz Joya will present his candidature at the following Plenary Meeting of the Town Council where it is not certain whether his party will have enough support from other parties, especially the far-left party, IU, to secure the post for him.
If he fails to secure the Mayoralty, then Juan Carlos Benavides, as the leader of the most voted party in the last municipal elections, will more than likely become the next Mayor until the elections next year.

Pierre: If Juan Jose is rejected then the PSOE Candidate will get voted in counting benny’s votes – he will be the power behind the throne.
May God (if she exists) protect Almunecar from the comeback of Beny!
Well whatever our feelings about some of the ducking and diving she was alleged to have been involved in as a mayor. !
In a free country. The vote speaks. !!
Says a lot about the voters though.!
Almuñecar is acting like the military when they find incompetence let’s just promote them so e avoid deqling
