Reader: Kind People

A reader writes in to praise a young Spanish couple that took the time to help him out.

Readers Letter 400x250Dear Ed

While I may moan a lot about some aspects of Spanish life; say the water-bike chaps by El Penón [Salobreña], today at Playa Granada beach, next to the still unfinished surf school/shop, (which has taken 30 car-parking spaces away) a young Spanish couple helped me with my kayak.

The waves were a little high and I was struggling. So the man steadied the kayak for me to get in. On the way back the waves had got higher and the lady kept hold of my kayak as I got out from being overturned. While the chap kept hold of their small child up by a certain beach bar.

Such kindness. Good people.

PS: A small word of warning to swimmers in the Playa Granada beach area. I saw a shed load of small jelly fish. I don’t want to find out if they sting or are too small. Sadly I saw a whole area of brown scummy water too.

We notice the drilling rig is back off the Salobrena coast.

Anybody know the reason for it being there?

…Peeing on a jellyfish sting does nothing to help the sting; and a great deal towards you getting charged for whipping your todger out in public.

These jelly fish were very small even with tendrils. About 2 inches long and round. I maybe wrong. But vinegar or if desperate fresh urine. I’m told, helps.!!
My youngest Daughter trod barefooted on a weaver fish in the surf in Devon. Wife too in Brittany. I guess they exist here unless eaten to extinction.?? Each time really hot water eased the pain and anti histamines.

I saw the same jellies in Almuñécar on 7 june. They sting. Guaranteed. I was stung without knowlingly touching one. But they have stingers up to a few meters long so I must have brushed against one while walking on the edge of the sea.
