A woman is facing trial for rigging an explosion using butane bottles in her own home, in order to end her life and that of her daughter.
She even wrote two letters to the Guardia Civil explaining how she intended to do it and how and where she would like herself and her daughter to be buried. She cited personal reasons for wanting to ‘end it all.’
This was in August last year somewhere in the Valle de Lecrín and her ‘bomb’ went off in the early hours of the 13th, causing a fire and bringing down a partition wall. Both the culprit and her daughter escaped injury.
Consequently, the Public Prosecutor has recommended 17 years’ imprisonment because her intention was to end her daughter’s life as well her own and whose action could have caused injuries or death to her neighbours.
Around two in the morning of the 13th she put one butane bottle in her bedroom and another in the living room with an open gas regulator attached to a severed rubber tube. After a short wait, she lit a flame.
Within moments the fire service and Guardia Civil were at the scene and the fire was put out. The officers arrested the woman because the letters she had sent made it obvious that the explosion was deliberate.
