The Dirección General de Tráfico (Traffic Department) have now brought online three permanent speed traps, installed in 2020.
Two of these three speed traps are in the Serrallo Tunnels on the GR-30, (Sierra Nevada) and the other more or less in front of the Nevada shopping centre.
This section of the autovía near Nevada has a speed limit of 90kph and there is a big illuminated signboard indicating this speed restrictions.
Coming into the tunnels, however, the maximum speed is 80kph. Actually inside the tunnels, it’s down to 60kph.
Breaking these speed limits (depending on how much by) comes with fines between 100 and 700 euros. A driver can also lose between two and six point off his or her driving liccence.
With these new additions, the GR-30, or as it is popuarly known as, Circunvalación, has three, fixed speed traps. Taking into consideration the whole of the province, there are 45 permanent speed traps installed, 17 of which are on the roads around the city of Granada.
We have a previous article from January 2020 on speed traps, which you can view here.
