An off-duty officer belonging to the Policía Nacional saved the life of a man who he had found, lying face up, unconscious and not breathing.
This took place on Calle Periodista Eugenio Selles in Granada around 16.15h on the 11th of this month.
The policeman found the victim, who had passed out, face up with only a feeble pulse. He had swallowed his own tongue so the policeman cleared the obstruction and place him in the recovery position so that it wouldn’t happen again.
He then asked the people who were gathering around to phone the emergency services for an ambulance.
The victim resumed breathing almost immediately but the policeman continued to monitor his vitals (pulse and respiratory rates). The ambulance soon arrived and took him to the general hospital, having suffered a pulmonary thrombosis.
Several days later and discharged from hospital, the victim tracked down the policeman, who is serving in Antequera, and thanked him personally for saving his life.
