A man was arrrested in the Almuñécar bus station for threatening passersby with a rather large machette.

According to the Chief of Local Police, Manuel Ledesma, the incident took place around Saturday mid morning, shortly before  a caller phoned saying that a man was brandishing a large sword-like weapon and threatening people at the bus station with it.

When the police patrol got to the bus station it was to find that the culprit had locked himself in the public toilets inside the bus station.

They asked him to come out, he refused claiming that he hadn’t done anything naughty.

He eventually emerged so that he could be identified and searched, but as it was quite difficult to hide an  implement suitable for dinosaur hunting, the machete was found and confiscated. Not surprisingly, he was arrested.

In the police, press release the weapon was described as a katana, which would have most samurais feeling rather insulted.

Editorial comment: the local police station is on the upper floor of the bus station but it took a call to 092 to alert them to a lunatic with a sod-off cutting weapon screaming death threats below their feet. In fact, there is a clear view of the marshalling yard below where Mr Nasty was dancing a highland sword dance in stereo.
