Despite yesterday seeing 38,000 new contagions in just 72 hours the Committe of Health Experts for Andalucia decided that no restrictions were necessary.
The Health Minister for the Junta, Jesús Aguirre, made a press announcement to this effect but added that they would approach the Tribunal Superior de Justicia de Andalucía (TSJA) for permission to extend the judicial backing concerning the imposition of presenting a Covid Certificate in order to enter bars, restaurants and pubs, etc, until the 31st of January.
This obligation also includes visiting hospitals or care homes.
The regional PM also confirmed that they have no intentions of delaying the return to school after the Christmas holidays and that they would not impose quarantine on a whole class if some of its members test positive.
The vaccination programme moves ahead with children aged six and seven now being included starting Today and then on Wednesday the 5th they will start administering the booster (3rd) jab for people aged 54 and 55.
He also said that although the pressure on hospital is high at the moment, it is normal for this time of year (compared to the pre-pandemic year of 2019).
