The Policía Nacional in Vélez-Málaga have arrested a 52-year-old man and confiscated his air rifle for shooting his neighour's cats.

SPN Air Rifle & PelletsThe arrested man is reportedly responsible for shooting two cats belonging to a nextdoor neighbour, as well as other cats and a dog.

The shootings took place over a period of time but these pet potshots suspiciously started just after a man moved into the neighbourhood.

His next-door neighbour, whose two cats he badly injured, explained that she had suspected him because he made negative comments to her about the cats as well as left a big stick and a piece of rope on his own doorstep as a sort of warning, she considered.

Firstly, she found her dog, drowned in her pool and soon after found both her cats badly injured, one of which later died from its wounds after two months of suffering, but not before she had spent 1,200 euros in vet bills to try to save its life. Finally, another of her cats was found dead not far from her home.

The man has been charged with animal cruelty
