A 27-year-old man had to be rescued after he got into trouble and was unable to return from a swim out to a large rock off this Castell de Ferro beach.
This occurred yesterday evening on Playa de La Rijana, which is a very popular beach below the N-340 within the municipality of Castell de Ferro.
The person who was accompanying the man during the swim out to the rocks did manage to get back to the beach and was able to alert 112 around 18.35h.
Cruz Roja, Guardia Civil and Salvamento Marítimo were alerted and finally it was a helicopter belonging to sea-rescue service that managed to pick him up and fly him to Hospital Santa Ana.
