Bonnie Tyler's PCR came back negative, so after giving Salobreña a miss on the 13th, she left her hotel the next day and left for a concert in Marbella.
This timely recovery had the more sceptical on the Costa Tropical nodding knowingly as many predicted that Bonnie Tyler would make a ‘remarkable recovery’ and hit the stage in the Festival Starlite in Marbella.
What ever the case, the disappointed entrance-ticket holders in Salobreña not only want their 30 euros back, but they also want a pretty convincing explanation.
It was left to fellow performer, Lorena Pal, on the night to appear on stage in Salobreña’s Polideportivo Municipal Los Trances and explain that the concert had been postponed owing to Mrs Tyler’s health.
Of course, the most likely explanation is that this internationally famous Welsh singer did experience Covid-like symptoms which eased off during the day of the concert only to return with a vengeance not long before the concert started – you don’t do all the travelling, unload tonnes of equipment, set it up and complete the sound checks and think… “nah! I’ll pass,” after all. However, this won’t carry much weight with those that think that the whole thing was a set up.
No sooner on stage in Marbella Saturday night with the show underway, Bonnie said, “I didn’t want to cancel in this marvellous place”, adding, “I’ve never been in Starlite before but you can be sure I will be back.” Perhaps she mispronounced Salobreña and it came out “Starlite”?
