Almuñécar Lifeguards at Work

The lifeguards have been busy in Almuñécar and La Herradura since July kicked in with at least two incidents requiring their participation.

ALM Lifeguards Velilla BeachIt was just after midday on Saturday when lifeguards on duty along Velilla Beach had to go out to a small boat that was having difficulties; its engine had given up the ghost and they were adrift.

Shouldn’t you alway have at least a set of Chinese-bazaar paddles with you just in case that happens?

Anyway, the occupants were a father and son who were relieved when the lifeguard jet ski turned up to tow them back to the launching ramp next to Restaurante Árbol Blanco.

Later on during that day a woman had to be taken to the Almuñécar medical centre before then being transferred to Hospital Santa Ana.

The woman had been strolling along the shoreline of La Herradura Bay, at the Peña Parda end, when the lifeguard up in observation tower noticed that she had fallen down and seemingly was unable to move. She told the lifeguard that she had a tremendous pain in her hips, so an ambulance was used to get her to the medical centre, where she was examined, before being packed off to Motril.
