Brit Shoots Irishman in Baza

Reports state that a British man shot a man from Northern Ireland with a shotgun in the middle of Baza on Wednesday.

GRA Baza Shootout and DrugsThe 33-year-old victim, who had pellet wounds in his forearm and stomach was rushed to the Baza Hospital where his condition is described as being stable and not in danger.

The incident took place on Wednesday at 10.15h in a rural area of Taldarroba, not far from the Fire Station in the south east of the city.

Thanks to the description given to the police by the victim and his sister, who told the police where the accused lived, he was tracked down to his rural home where he had locked himself in and refused to surrender; it was twelve noon. A police mediator was brought in and officers from the Grupo de Operaciones Especiales (GOE) based in Málaga were sent for.

After a bit of reasoning from the mediator, the 52-year-old British man agreed to come out around three-thirty in the afternoon, unarmed and give himself up. This occurred before the GOE officers had arrived – they were still on their way from Málaga so they turned around and returned to base.

The reported aggresor was taken to the police HQ in Granada and kept under arrest pending an appearance before magistrate. However, he claims that he remembers nothing of the incident because he had taken some heavy-duty pills which had caused him to be in a confused state of mind. He also denies that he had refused to leave his house and didn’t even know that the police were outside demanding that he surrendered.

Upon a thorough search of the house, the police found a hidding hole underneath the floor containing nine jars of dried marihuana, 15 phials of anabolics and syringes.

Apparently a relative of the accused claims that it was the Irishman who first threatened to shot the other man. The victim has yet to give a police statement. Furthermore, it appears that the accused had worked for the victim on occasions on his land.

CGG: I’ll phone the Guardia Civil in Baza after Easter – it would be a waste of time phoning them before, I’m afraid.

The man that was shot is from the Republic of Ireland can you follow up on this story as the family of the victim still have no answers and Justice has not been served it’s almost a year now. Was the vintage gun used ever found?

ARTICLE 4 of the Irish constitution 1937

The name of the State is Éire, or, in the English language, Ireland.

So there is no Republic of Eire.

Additionally Eireann is not a country and is used in place of Eire when the noun is in the genitive case, mostly commonly to indicate possession or belonging to. This is because Irish doesn’t have an apostrophe S to indicate possession. For example Ireland’s football team would be written as ‘foireann cluiche peile na hEireann’. So Eire is changed to Eireann because it is used in the genitive case, but Eireann as a stand alone word cannot exist in the Irish language.

If in any doubt take a look at an Irish passport it states the name of the country on the front.

Aitor: the new Constitution of Ireland (Bunreacht na hÉireann) came into force on 29 December 1937, replacing the name “Irish Free State” to The State Éire (in its anglosised form but in its Celtic form it is Éireann), which was and is a republic. Basically, Eire or Éireann means “Ireland.”

Republic of Eire. Where is that? I am not sure that is on this earth

  14. June 27, 2021 at 11:02 am

Bill: The majority of people from Northern Ireland consider themselves as “Irish” or “Northern Irish.” Many, mostly Protestants, consider themselves as “British.” We don’t know what the victim’s preference is in that aspect, so we went with “Irishman,” because he is from Ireland, albeit Ulster as opposed to the Republic of Eire. We could have used “Earthling shoots Earthling” to be on the safe side.
