Don't be surprised if you see French police officers out on the beat along the central streets of the city of Granada - they're not lost, honest!
In fact they are not the only foreign police officers that can be seen on foot patrol alongside officers from the Policía Nacional because the idea is that with so many foreign tourists around, what could be better than one of their own police officers to attend to them.
Obviously, they’re bilingual and part of the European wide project, Comisarías Europeas (European Police Commissioners), and other participating nationalities have been the Italians, Portuguese and Germans.
These French police officers are not only in Granada, but also in large cities like Alicante, Benidorm, Madrid, Marbella and Santiago de Compostela: the Italian officers are in Alicante, Benidorm, Ibiza, Granada, Madrid and Santiago de Compostela. The Portuguese will be in Santiago de Compostela and Vigo, and the Germans will invade Poland… just joking! They’re in Palma de Mallorca, Estepona an Málaga.
