Frigiliana La Bonita

Frigiliana, you must admit, is quaint and knows how to preserve this quality to favour tourism, on which it depends. For that reason, it always score high in surveys.

AD Frigiliana 03On this occasion, it has been voted the prettiest municipality in Málaga with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants.

The population figure is important otherwise you will have cities like Sevilla, Córdoba and Granada competing amongst villages the size of Frigiliana in Andalucía-wide opinion polls.

It was an Italian, online tours-booking platform, Musement that organised the competition with the criteria based on searches via the Google browser.

Eight municipalities in the whole of Andalucía were up there with Frigiliana: Setenil de las Bodegas (Cádiz), Guadix (Granada), Aracena (Huelva), Osuna (Sevilla), Rute (Córdoba), Mojácar (Almería) and Cazorla (Jaén).

The idea was to choose one town for each province (around 50 in total). Firstly Musement made a list of all the towns and villages in the country with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants and then they compared the list to the number of searches on the Google browers which contain, qué ver en… (what’s to see in…).

With the mobility restrictions in place where you can’t go outside your province, many people have chosen to explore and get to know their own province, hence the wording chosen for the selection in this competition.
