Jabs for Those Born in 1956

Our Health District (Costa Tropical-Alpujarra) has commenced vaccinating those between the ages of 55 and 65 starting on the 15th of April.

SPN Covid Jabs VaccinationThey will start with those born in 1956, without any need of belonging to a front-line activity – you just need to be 65-years old to receive your AstraZeneca jab.

In other provinces they will start with the same age group once they have processed those working in essencial activities, such as teachers and police forces.

This comes about after the Ministry of Health has finally authorised AstraZeneca for this age group; something that the Regional Government of Andalucía has been requesting since this vaccine became available.

Meanwhile, as far as Pfizer and Moderna vaccines go, they’re still working their way through those of 80 or above, carers, nurse & doctors.

Andalucía received 99,450 Pfizer doses on Monday, 56.800 Moderna doses and 20,000 AstraZeneca ones.

Sandra: The 80s group were supposed to be covered by the end of March but that is running behind schedule, so sometime in May is a reasonable expectation. 😉

Pen: Good morning! Those over 65 are to receive Pfizer & Moderna, and will have to wait until they work their way down from the 80s group.

This is only AstraZeneca and works its way down from those born in 1956. I know a foreign resident in Salobreña born in 1956 who was called in and received her jab on Monday, it’s already up and running for that age group.

Good morning Martin. It’s good news about vaccinating the 55-65 age group from April 15th. However, my husband and I are both over 70 and registered with the Salud, but still haven’t been called about our vaccinations. Does this mean we can’t have the Astra Zeneca one and have to wait for either Pfizer or Moderna vaccines to be available?
    Thank you for your article.
