Bye Bye Bershka in Motril

MOT Bershka ClosesAnd it’s a fond farewell to the Bershka shop in Motril as well as the ones in the city of Granada and beyond.

Bershka is just one of the brand shops that belong to Amancio Ortega’s Inditex, which is one of the world’s biggest fashion retailer. This fashion giant also owns Zara, Massimo Dutti, Oysho, Pull&Bear and Stradivarius, which have also been affected by this reorganisational shuffle.

Over 800 employees working in the 79 branches that have been closed down temporarily, might be looking for alternative work if not found a slot in the remaining larger shops..

The growth of internet as competition for physical shops started this reorganisation and modernisation of the fashion retailer, and the pandemic has served to speed up the process. Affected staff have already been informed but so far there has been no backlash in the form of protest.

Whilst shop workers might be breathing a sigh of relief in expectation of being relocated, the municipal authorities in the towns affected are far from happy.

Sad to see , certainly in the UK the picture for high tree retail is increasingly grim , as many of us are spending more and more online, and their role is increasingly more leisure orientated principally food and drink.
