A 43-year-old farmer from Riba (Castellón) was arrested for stealing his own oranges – it’s a bit more complicated than that, so please read on.
The farmer had rented out his land to another person and then, according to the Guardia Civil, he stole the crop; some 50,000 kilos of oranges.
As part of police operation Tonja, investigating officers belonging to the Equipo Roca de Llíria discovered that the land owner had used a company in the province to actually harvest the crop – they were not aware that the oranges technically did not belong to him even though he owned the land.
