All Granada Townships Closed

GRA Province of GranadaSince the measures announced earlier this evening, the Junta de Andalucía has announced that every municipality in Granada will be closed.

In other words, you will not be allowed to leave the municipality in which you live other than for justified reasons, which we will list further down.

This measure will come into effect at 00.01h on Friday morning and will remain in force until 23.59h on the 8th; i.e., it ceases from 00.01h on morning of the 9th.

The night curfew begins at 23.00h each evening until 06.00h the next morning. However, bars and restaurants will have to close half an hour before (22.30h) giving customers time to return home.

The exceptions for leaving your municipality are pretty much the same as during the previous Lockdown; i.e., if you have a doctor’s or veterinary’s appointment, for reasons of work, etc. You will have to carry documentation that proves that your trip is justified. Also, children living in one village but going to a school in a different municipality, won’t be affected, obviously. For example, kids from Otivar attending high school in Almuñécar.

Sue: There’s no risk. Attending an ITV appointment is a valid reason for leaving your municipality. If you have it on your telephone and a printed out copy, you are more than safe.

Peter: the whole province of Granada is locked down; every municipality, including the municipality of Almuñécar & La Herradura. Therefore, no you won’t be allowed to cross over into La Herradura from the province of Málaga and stay at a hotel there. If you phone the hotel, they will confirm this.

Thank you Martin good to know 🤗

Anne: Given that La Herradura and Almuñécar belong to the same municipality, there is no problem because moving between the two urban area does not require leaving the municipality. It would be exactly the same case for somebody in La Caleta wanting to go to Salobreña, as they both belong to the same municipality, so, no need to worry. 😉

Does anybody know if it’s ok to go between La Herradura and Almunecar for shopping?

Concerning those wishing to travel to Lanjarón, for example. I have just spoken with the Guardia Civil post in Orgiva (the Lanjaron one is closed) and the sergeant on the desk confirmed that, no, somebody from outside the town would not be allowed to enter, no matter if they are planning to stay three weeks.

After that I phoned the Guardia Civil post in Albuñol who said the same; nobody can enter to occupy a second or holiday home.

    Please contact your airline, everybody.

    Pauline wiggins/Ray Parkinson/Patrick:

Looking at it logically; no, you wouldn’t be able to go there.

The reason that I say this is if a Spaniard living in another part of Andalucía or anywhere across Spain cannot go to their holiday home in Almuñécar, Salobreña or Motril, for example, then it isn’t logical that somebody from outside the country can do it.

You must contact your airline and/or British Consulate in Málaga.

Nick: Yes, that is the latest. Even the Mayor of Motril has issued a notice on it – sorry

Are you sure this applies to all towns and not just Granada (the town) itself?

  17. October 29, 2020 at 10:46 am

First of all, you must contact your airline and/or the British Consulate in Málaga. Having said that, if your official residence is in Albuñol then you will be allowed to return “home,” but not if it is a holiday home. At the Gazette, as this is all still very new, we are in the dark as much as anybody, so do please contact the people suggested.
