A British citizen and a Spaniard have been arrested in the tiny village of Carataunas (Alpujarra) following the discovery of a marihuana-production cortijo.
The Guardia Civil operation Ánimas Cañaíllas bagged 4,042 separate cannabis-sativa plants, two vacuum-packing machines, two precision scales and two specialised machine for taking the leaves from the stalks and chopping them up. They also netted 25 kilos of marihuna ready for sale.
Neither the 52-year-old British man nor the 38-year-old Spaniard has a criminal record… but they will have now, if found guilty of cultivating and processing grade-one narcotics.
