Buena Vista & Buen Maridaje

PP Maridaje Buena Vista OnLThe Maridaje at Restaurante Buena Vista in Otívar last month was a success, judging by the comments from those who had eaten there that evening.

Unlike most maridajes (the linking of wines to sample menus) the task fell to the Chef, Luis Javier Hernandez Muñoz, to match his dishes to the wines, in this case the truly fine wines produced by Bodega Calvente.

Normally it’s a case of finding wines to match the dishes, yet the Chef not only rose to the challenge, but also triumphed.

Horacio Calvente introduced each wine, explaining its history and elaboration and then gave the floor to the Chef to explain the dish the diners were about to be served with.

It was very well done and congratulations must go to the those that run the restaurant , Andrea Fajardo Torres, her partner, Juan Antonio Muñoz and her brother, Marino Fajardo Torres, as well as the rest of their staff, both those serving the tables and those in the kitchen at Restaurante Buena Vista.

Andrea has stamped her own personality on this popular eating house, visited by many coastal residents throughout the years.

Enhorabuena

The law may be an ass, but it is quite clear that in this situation the mask is obligatory.

Evidently, I asked them to take them off for the photo – you’re supposed to see who they are.

If you can remove your mask to eat, it shouldn’t be a problem for three people standing still, away from others, not to wear a mask for the space of a few seconds that it took to take the photo, should it?

I presume that is an old photo that pre-dates compulsory mask wearing?
