Easy Jet Leaves Granada

SPN EasyjetThe Granada City Hall, the Provincial Council and the Junta have called for an airport, board meeting after easyJet closed its office at Granada Airport.

The low-cost airline’s decision puts the airport’s seven international flights with this company into jeopardy; i.e., Milan, Naples, Berlín, Nantes, Bordeaux, Manchester and London.

The Mayor of Granada, Luis Salvador, admitted that easyJet‘s decision was “bad news” and promised to hold a Mesa del Aeropuerto as soon as possible to find a solution. The Chairman of the Provincial Council describes the decision as “worrying” but calls on all concerned to keep their nerves. “Everybody knows that it has been a hard time for airlines,” he said.

Even the Chairman of the Federación de Hostelería, Gregorio García, was present at the meeting and also described easyJet‘s move as “bad news.” However, he also suggested working on interior tourism and attracting flights from Asturias and Galicia.

Opposition spokesman, Francisco Cuenca, on the other hand, said that the Mayor “doesn’t have a clue” and that he should be contacting the airline directly, as his party had done when the Madrid connection was in danger of being lost.

David, I loved the staff at Granada they looked after my mother superbly (she travels with a wheelchair). I knew them all by name and they always greeted you with real affection not like some of the larger airports where you are just a number. I hope another airline picks up a route from Granada to the UK.

Despite what easyjet continued to tell me that Manchester Granada flights were “operational” they eventually confirmed my flights for March 2021 had been cancelled. So they kept hold of my money for 6 months. I’m not a bank I don’t offer interest free loans to airlines, and NO they haven’t reintroduced the routes to Granada and still refuse to answer direct questions about it. They’ve done the same to the poor individuals who had international flights booked from Newcastle, horrible way to treat customers.

My Easyjet flights Granada to Gatwick in May & July were both cancelled & they refunded me the money quite a while ago.
I can confirm that all the Easyjet property was removed from Granada as well. The staff were laid off as well. One was a Spanish friend of mine.

Easyjet have not flown Manchester to Granada since 16th March 2020, they insist that all the flights I had booked were not cancelled and the flights are still operational. I find this hard to believe as no flights are taking off or landing for this route but easyjet are not showing them as cancelled on their website.
