Shoring up The Demolition Pit

ALM Shoring up Market WallsThe Town Planning Department at the Almuñécar Town Hall is carrying out a survey on the walls of the pit left by the demolition of the Municipal Market.

The Councillor for Urban Planning, Javier García, explained that the study took samples of the original basement walls left in order to know their exact state. He said that this was necessary in order to be able to draw up a project for the new Municipal Market.

In the meantime, the walls have been shored up with girders after the last of the rubble was removed. When this task is completed the site will be closed off until construction work begins.

They Mayor assures that it will be a 2-storey market-place building with a basement for parking. However, the plans still have to be drawn up and somebody found to build it in exchange for having a leasehold for let’s say 25 to 40 years.
