The Agencia Estatal de Meteorología (AEMET) has raised the alert level to Level Orange for today and tomorrow owing to the snow forecast.
The alert covers Granada, Almería and Jaén. As far as our province goes it will be Guadix and Baza that will see the heaviest snowfall, expected to leave a blanket up to 15 centimetres thick over a period of 24 hours.
In Tabernas in Almería the snowfall will be about the same whilst in Cazorla and Segura (Jaén) it will be nearer to 20 centimetres.
We can finally expect a snowfall on the Almijarras (behind Otívar) which will actually bring early morning temperatures down to a few degrees above zero in the said village. This will also be felt, but to a lesser degree, on the coast in Almuñécar, at the mouth of the Valle de Río Verde.
Over in Salobreña and Motril, with the Guadalfeo bringing the colder weather down from Sierra Nevada, even los guiris will finally put away their sandals and shorts with minimum temperatures of 9ºC.
