A blind woman was saved from being run over by a surface, metro train in Granada on the 3rd of this month, thanks to the rapid response of a police officer.
The woman was crossing the road, which besides having normal wheeled traffic also has tracks for the metro train-cum-tram. She was using a stick but appeared to get confused – probably by the rails – and had stopped right on the train tracks.
The train was just coming around a bend about 50 metres from the woman when the policeman ran across the road and guided here out of the way of the train.
The policeman had actually been inside a car when her saw the unfolding disaster and abandoned it to reach the woman in time.
